Jobs with Justice Organizing Committee is calling for an action at
Walmart on “Black Friday” (November 23)
as part of a national day of action in support of Walmart workers, many
of whom are will be walking off the job in protest of the egregious
labor practices of the company.
We will be targeting the
Walmart at the New Hope Commons shopping center in Durham (5450 New Hope Commons Dr., near exit 270 (15-501) off of I-40).  The action will begin at
11:00 a.m.  Please also note that there is a letter attached
(that will be delivered to management) that we are encouraging
organizations to sign.  Please send me an email at
nickwood1979@gmail.com if your organization is able to endorse the action.

This
will be one among many throughout the country as communities tell the
giant retailer that we won’t stand for
their labor practices anymore!  Walmart is notorious for low wages,
discrimination, unaffordable benefits, and retaliation against union
supporters.  They are even denying their employees a day off for
Thanksgiving to spend time with their families.  Instead,
they are demanding that employees work at 8:00 p.m. on the holiday
evening so that the company can make even larger profits.   As a
community we must show that we support the workers, so please come out
and join us if you can!
